Whether you're a casual gamer or a hardcore enthusiast, finding the perfect TV can make all the difference in your gameplay. From stunning visuals to immersive audio, the right TV can elevate your gaming sessions to new heights. So, let's dive in and discover the best Xbox Series X TVs that will have you fully immersed in the action.

Best TV For Xbox Series X

The top TV for Xbox Series X that we've tested is the Samsung S90C OLED. This TV offers exceptional picture quality and includes useful gaming features. It has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, allowing you to fully utilize the capabilities of the Xbox Series X, including playing 4k @ 120Hz games without any issues. If you're a PC gamer as well, this TV can also output up to 4k @ 144Hz on all its ports, which is fantastic. Additionally, it supports variable refresh rate (VRR) technology to reduce screen tearing and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) to automatically switch into Game Mode for the lowest input lag possible. It has incredibly low input lag for a responsive gaming experience, and its near-instantaneous response time ensures smooth motion.

The S90C is capable of displaying games flawlessly with its QD-OLED panel that produces perfect black levels and vibrant colors. It also offers excellent HDR brightness in Game Mode, resulting in vivid highlights for an immersive HDR gaming experience. However, it doesn't support Dolby Vision, although most popular games on Xbox do support it. Despite this, its vibrant colors make up for the lack of Dolby Vision.

If you prefer an even brighter option, you could consider the higher-end Samsung S95C OLED, although it comes at a higher price that may not be worth it for most people.

The best TV overall for Xbox Series X is the LG C2. While the newer LG C3 has been announced, we believe that the LG C2 offers the ideal balance of price and performance, making it a great choice for the Xbox Series X.

For those on a budget, the best cheap TV for Xbox Series X is the Samsung AU9000. Even with a lower price range, this TV still includes essential features that enhance the Game Mode experience.

If you're looking for a premium option, the best TV for Xbox Series X is the Samsung QN95C. It offers stunning picture quality and is a true technological masterpiece, ensuring that you will be impressed no matter what you use it for.

The LG C2 has taken the already excellent LG C1 to the next level with even better image quality and improved brightness. Although the LG C3 has been released, we still believe that the LG C2 provides the best value for your money.

The C2 incorporates LG's new Brightness Boosting technology, which addresses OLED's usual weakness. However, please note that this feature is not available on the 42-inch and 48-inch models, which have the same brightness as the LG C1. Overall, all models impress with their incredible image handling, making it one of the best gaming TVs regardless of size. It also offers future-proofed connectivity, thanks to LG's excellent HDMI 2.1 support.

The Samsung AU9000 is an impressive budget TV for Xbox Series X that won't break the bank. While it doesn't have complete HDMI 2.1 functionality, it still supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). These features ensure that you can enjoy a great Game Mode experience without screen tearing, even if you can't play in 4K at 120fps. Additionally, the AU9000 offers excellent image quality for the price, delivering plenty to enjoy in 4K at 60fps. It may not support Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos, but it remains a fantastic choice for Xbox gaming.

If only the absolute best is what you're after, the Samsung flagship QN95C offers exceptional Mini LED picture quality. However, this comes at a high price. The QN95C improves upon its predecessor with a higher number of zoning in its Mini LED backlight, resulting in superior local dimming and image processing. The TV delivers performance that rivals the best OLEDs, thanks to an elegant design, solid build quality, advanced features, and extensive gaming support. It's perfect for gaming and movie watching, offering comprehensive support for the latest gaming features, including 4K at 120Hz, variable refresh rate, and AMD Freesync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-SYNC compatibility.

Best overall TV for Xbox Series X|S: LG C3 Series evo

LG C3 Series OLED evo TV (OLED48C3)

    Screen sizes: 48, 55, 65, 77, 83-inch | Display type: OLED | Resolution: 4K | Refresh rate: 120Hz | HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG | HDMI ports: HDMI 2.1 x 4

For an outstanding 4K TV tailored for Xbox Series X, the LG C3 Series is currently the best option on the market. It offers all the features necessary for a complete next-generation gaming experience. As the successor to the popular LG C2 Series OLED TV and the second-generation successor to the beloved LG CX, the LG C3 sets the gold standard for 4K, 120Hz gaming, especially on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

The LG C3 retains the impressive OLED panel of its predecessors, delivering some of the best image quality among all display technologies. The panel offers excellent out-of-the-box appearance, including accurate colors and vibrancy. It supports popular HDR standards and provides striking contrast between blacks and highlights. It also offers wide viewing angles, making it suitable as a centerpiece in any living room. While OLED burn-in is a concern, it's only a significant issue if you continuously display static images.

The LG C3 fully supports Xbox Series X and other next-generation gaming consoles, with 4K resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rates. This ensures sharp visuals and smooth gameplay. It showcases all the intricate details of Xbox Series X games while enabling fast response times in high FPS titles. Popular games like Call of Duty and Halo Infinite now support 120 FPS on Xbox, and TVs like the LG C3 deliver a seamless experience without stutters. It also features HDMI 2.1 on all four ports, offering the latest connectivity required for full 4K 120Hz experiences.

For Xbox Series X (and Series S) users, the LG C3 offers a wide range of gaming features designed to enhance the gaming experience's responsiveness. It includes auto low latency mode (ALLM) to reduce input lag, variable refresh rate (VRR) support to prevent screen tearing, and low response times as low as 0.1ms to catch every action. Furthermore, it integrates both G-Sync and FreeSync, benefiting those interested in PC gaming.

The LG C3 provides one of the best opportunities to experience the upcoming Xbox games while ensuring that you fully utilize the capabilities of your new console. It is available in five different sizes, ranging from 48 to 77 inches. At a starting price of $1,196 in the U.S., it may be a costly option compared to non-OLED TVs, particularly for larger screen sizes. However, within the OLED market, it offers reasonable pricing for its outstanding quality, showcasing the full potential of the Xbox Series X. It has more than enough headroom to support games that push 4K and 120Hz. While the benefits also apply to the Xbox Series S, cheaper alternatives might be more suitable due to its lower horsepower and targeted 1440p resolution (although some games exceed it).

(Image credit: Steve May)Our favorite gaming TV at the moment is the LG OLED G3, and it's perfect for pairing with a new-gen console. As a flagship OLED model, it comes at a higher price, but its specs and features give it a futuristic feel.

    Buy if:

✅ You want the best: The G3 is currently the top TV available, with impressive specs and features.

✅ You need faster refresh rate: If you plan on playing 120Hz supported games like Overwatch 2, this speedy screen will serve you well.

✅ You prefer larger screens: The G3 is designed to dominate your living room wall, with sizes going up to 83 inches.

    Don't buy if:

❌ You want to spend less: The G3 is a high-end model with a premium price tag, and there are more affordable alternatives available.

❌ You need a stand: The G3 doesn't come with a stand, so you'll need to find your own solution or wall mount it.

Features: LG's latest flagship TV checks all the boxes for PS5 and Xbox Series X gameplay. It has a 4K 120Hz OLED panel, HDR10, Dolby Vision, FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync VRR support, ensuring high frame rate visuals without tearing issues.

Design: The G3 models range from 55 inches to 83 inches, and LG has taken a "go big or go home" approach. It should be noted that the G3 requires wall mounting as it does not come with a stand. Once on the wall, though, its bezel-less design creates an immersive experience.

Performance: With a Micro Lens Array (MLA) panel and advanced brightness boosting algorithms, the G3 is 70% brighter than entry-level OLED models. It offers incredible dynamic snap and color vibrancy without increasing power usage. Overall, it outperforms every OLED screen tested so far, making it our top choice for PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2023.

Verdict: While the G3 may have a higher price point, its exceptional performance makes it worth considering. However, there are also alternative options available that offer good value for the budget-conscious buyer.

The Best TV for PS5 and Xbox Series X for Most People

LG OLED C3 displaying a menu

(Image credit: Steve May)If you're looking for an excellent 4K 120Hz TV that offers similar features to the G3 but at a lower price, the LG OLED C3 is worth considering. It may still be expensive, but it provides many of the same premium specs as its pricier sibling.

    Buy if:

✅ You want to spend a bit less: The C3 is more affordable than the flagship G3, while still offering similar premium specs that are compatible with the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

✅ You're looking for 4K 120Hz: The C3, like the G3, supports 4K 120Hz, ensuring smooth gameplay in compatible games.

✅ You prefer OLED: If you have a preference for OLED screens and don't want to go back to LED, the C3 offers stunning visuals that stand out from the crowd.

    Don't buy if:

❌ You're on a tight budget: The C3 is still relatively expensive compared to other models on the market, so it may not be suitable for those looking for a budget-friendly option.

❌ You prioritize superior HDR: While the C3 has HDR capabilities, it may not offer the same level of brightness as larger variants, so keep that in mind if you're considering the smaller size.

Features: The LG C3 offers many of the same features as the flagship G3, including a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10, VRR, and a high-quality OLED panel. However, it lacks the Micro Lens Array (MLA) panel found in the G3, resulting in slightly less punchy visuals.

Design: The C3 is an aesthetically appealing TV, with a slim bezel design similar to the G3. Unlike the flagship model, the C3 comes with a stand, so you have the option to place it on a unit or desk. However, the smaller 42-inch model is thicker at the back, which may be a consideration if you plan to wall mount it.

Performance: While the C3 doesn't match the brightness algorithms and MLA technology of the G3, it still delivers exceptional visuals with striking contrast and color. Its motion handling is also impressive, making it suitable for general TV and sports viewing.

Verdict: The LG OLED C3 is a great option for those who want to experience OLED excellence without breaking the bank. While it may not have all the features of the flagship G3, its price and performance make it a popular choice.

The Best TV for PS5 and Xbox Series X Under $500

    Hisense A6G

(Image credit: Hisense)The Hisense A6G is one of the most affordable gaming TVs on this list, offering plenty of features and great image quality at a competitive price. While it may be an entry-level option, it provides a solid UHD screen for your PS5 or Xbox Series X gaming setup.

    Buy if:

✅ You're on a tight budget: The A6G strikes a good balance between price and specs, offering console-specific features at a more affordable cost.

✅ You're not concerned about 120Hz: If refresh rate is not a priority for you, sticking with 60Hz provides cost savings.

✅ You want a larger screen: Even the 65-inch model is under $500, giving you a lot of TV at a reasonable price.

    Don't buy if:

❌ You play a lot of FPS games: For games like Overwatch 2, which benefit from 120Hz, 60Hz may feel sluggish.

❌ You require brighter HDR: During testing, we found that the A6G's HDR performance was slightly dimmer, potentially impacting your viewing experience for movies and games.

Features:  Available in various screen sizes, the Hisense A6G TV for PS5 and Xbox Series X offers excellent value, with support for 4K 120fps sources, ALLM, VRR, and eARC. It also boasts an input lag of better than 20ms, making it responsive for gaming.

Design: Despite being a budget TV, the A6G features a sleek design with slim bezels similar to more expensive options. The TV comes with feet instead of a pedestal stand, which are centered for stability. Setting it up on a unit or desk should not be an issue.

Performance: The A6G delivers good image quality, with excellent fine detail and reasonable dynamics. Dolby Vision enhances the viewing experience, particularly for Dolby Vision content. Motion handling is also well-executed, with MEMC interpolation available at various strengths. The A6G comes with a range of smart features, such as Android TV and a good selection of streaming and catch-up players.

Verdict: For its price point, the Hisense A6G is a steal. While it may have some minor limitations, such as lower HDR brightness and 60Hz refresh rate, its overall performance, features, and affordability make it an excellent choice for those on a budget.

Performance: The XR-75X95K delivers exceptional picture quality, with bright and colorful images across gaming and video sources. The black levels and backlight controls are impressive, though viewing from wide angles may impact performance. The TV also features powerful and dynamic audio performance, creating a cinematic experience. While there may be occasional softness with motion and slight "flatness" with mid-dark imagery, it remains an outstanding TV overall.

Verdict: If you're looking for a premium Sony TV, the XR-75X95K offers exceptional contrast and color for PS5 and Xbox Series X gaming. Its compatibility with the "Perfect for PlayStation 5" initiative further enhances the gaming experience.

The Best Samsung TV for PS5 and Xbox Series X

    Samsung S95B

(Image credit: Samsung)The Samsung S95B, Samsung's first QD-OLED display, combines slim design with exceptional brightness, making it an eye-catching choice for PS5 and Xbox Series X gaming.

    Buy if:

✅ You want a super bright OLED TV: The Samsung S95B offers consistent brightness and impressive blacks, setting it apart from OLED competition.

✅ You appreciate smart features: Samsung's Tizen smart platform provides comprehensive features and integration with the SmartThings ecosystem.

✅ You prioritize low latency: This 4K 120Hz screen delivers exceptional visuals with low latency, ideal for fast-paced games.

    Don't buy if:

❌ You need a larger screen: The largest model available is 65 inches, which may not satisfy those seeking massive display sizes.

❌ You want to avoid burn-in risk: As with all OLED models, there is a risk of burn-in, so it might not be suitable if screen longevity is a priority.

Features: The Samsung S95B combines OLED black levels with Quantum Dot technology, resulting in high peak brightness and expanded color volume. It features four HDMI 2.1 inputs with support for 4K 120fps sources, VRR, AMD FreeSync, ALLM, and eARC. The TV also comes with Samsung's Game Hub interface for easy gaming access.

Design: The Samsung S95B stands out with its slim and bezel-less design, earning it the moniker "LaserSlim." The lack of a visible frame surrounding the panel enhances the immersive viewing experience.

Performance: The S95B offers excellent image quality, with impressive detail and HDR performance. It achieves peak HDR brightness of over 1400 nits, and its average picture level is high, making it suitable for bright rooms. The TV's QD-OLED panel and Neural Quantum Processor, driven by AI Optimization, provide a hassle-free audio and visual experience.

Verdict: The Samsung S95B makes a remarkable debut with its QD-OLED panel, delivering phenomenal peak brightness and high color depth. While it may not provide a cinematic experience, the S95B stands out as a superb TV for gaming on PS5 and Xbox Series X, representing a potential future for gaming TVs.

LG C2 Series 65-inch OLED TV and remote.

    Rebecca Spear / Windows Central

LG C2 Series OLED evo TV (OLED65C2)

    Screen sizes: 48, 55, 65, 77, 83-inch | Display type: OLED | Resolution: 4K | Refresh rate: 120Hz | HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG | HDMI ports: HDMI 2.1 x 4

While the LG C3 tops our roundup, last year's LG C2 remains highly capable and provides an opportunity to save money. The previous model of this flagship OLED TV has many features that are perfect for next-generation consoles, including a 4K, 120Hz display and HDMI 2.1 ports. It offers the same performance as the C3, with only a few small updates missing.

The LG C2 is equipped with the Alpha 9 Gen 5 processor, while the C3 comes with the faster sixth generation processor. However, both displays are excellent. The C2 lacks some of the motion processing and image handling improvements found in the C3, as well as the new webOS 23 operating system that changes the user interface. However, it still has a "Game Optimizer" menu that consolidates Xbox console settings into one dashboard.

It's worth noting that availability of the LG C2 can vary greatly, as manufacturing has shifted to focus on newer models. If you find the C2 at a significantly lower price compared to the C3, it may be worth considering despite the minor compromises.

When choosing a TV for Xbox Series X/S gaming, keep these factors in mind

    • Resolution and HDR: Look for a 4K UHD display with high dynamic range
    • Refresh Rate: Aim for a minimum 120Hz refresh rate
    • Low Input Lag: Make sure the TV has low input lag for instant response

While the Xbox Series X is a powerful gaming system on its own, enhancing the overall gaming experience with accessories like a visually stunning TV can make a significant difference.

    Is 4K 60Hz good for PS5?

In short, yes! Although there is a lack of games that can run at 120Hz, playing games on a 4K TV with a 60Hz refresh rate is still a great experience. If you already own a 4K TV from the previous generation (PS4 or Xbox One) and it can support true 4K resolutions at 60Hz, it will still perform well with the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Upgrading to a TV with 120Hz capability is recommended for those who want the best features and future-proofing, but a 4K 60Hz TV is a solid choice that will cost less.

If you're looking for other upgrades for your setup, consider checking out our guides for the best PS5 and Xbox Series X headsets and accessories. We also have tips on saving money on the Xbox Series X despite stock shortages.

    Buy it if:

✅ You need a bright OLED TV that delivers consistent brightness and exceptional blacks.

✅ You appreciate smart features and want access to Samsung's Tizen smart platform and SmartThings ecosystem.

✅ You're looking for low latency visuals, making it a good fit for shooters and fast-paced fighting games.

    Don't buy it if:

❌ You need a TV larger than 65 inches.

❌ You want to avoid the risk of burn-in, which is a possibility with OLED TVs.

How to setup 4K/8K gaming in the settings

When you've chosen one of the best 4K gaming TVs for your gaming platform, there are a few settings you need to adjust to enjoy high-resolution gaming.

First, check the console settings and enable 4K and HDR content. On the TV, make sure it accepts HDR content from external devices. For optimal color support, enable higher bit rates. The exact steps may vary depending on the TV model, but most manufacturers provide online instructions.

Some TVs have a special gaming mode that offers the lowest input lag and tailored motion processing settings. This mode may need to be manually selected or it can automatically switch on when the TV detects a gaming source.

If you're interested in TV shopping based on brand, price range, or screen size, check out our recommendations for the best TVs in each category.

You can also find links to our TV reviews and other TV-related guides at the end of the article. Just remember, while no TV is perfect, most TVs are great and the differences between them may not be noticeable unless you're specifically looking for them.

In conclusion, when it comes to finding the perfect TV for your Xbox Series X gaming experience in 2023, the LG C3 Series evo stands out as the best overall choice. Its stunning picture quality, impressive motion handling, and advanced gaming features make it a top contender for any gamer. However, if you're looking for a recommended alternative, the LG C2 Series OLED from 2022 still offers exceptional performance and affordability.
