Cohle's introverted nihilism can be maddening.

He finds so many ways to consume substances that it borders on a competitive activity. But sometimes it feels like he's injecting the universe's hidden truths directly into his veins, to the point where he becomes the prime suspect in a satanic serial murder case. Harte carries his own secrets, which set the foundation for future seasons. Anyone with a badge can be a competent cop or an inept fool, but it's their inner demons that become their most powerful weapon against the evils they face on the streets. Through its interconnected seasons, the show subtly hints at conspiracy theories, giving ample material for discussion, including debates over the show's own declining quality. In the end, it delivers on its promises, doing so in the most unexpected way. – TS

Hannibal

At first glance, Hannibal didn't seem like an appealing prospect when it premiered on NBC in 2013. After all, hadn't we seen enough of Hannibal Lecter already? The role had been recast twice in the movie adaptations of Thomas Harris' novels, and it was hard to imagine anyone surpassing the brilliance of Anthony Hopkins. And that unusual Danish actor from Casino Royale as our favorite psychological cannibal? Yeah, right.

As it turns out, not only was Mads Mikkelsen incredible in the role, but everyone involved in the thrilling series excelled in their respective fields. Show creator Bryan Fuller, known for Pushing Daisies, carefully selected a talented ensemble to shape the twisted relationship between Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Hannibal Lecter into a dark romance for the ages. The show boasts some of the most visually disturbing moments ever seen on television. Although Hannibal was canceled after three seasons due to low viewership, its dedicated fanbase lives on. – KH

However, it is the townsfolk of Crockett Island who steal the show. While the series may seem like a standard creature feature on the surface, Flanagan injects every thread with his full creative force. With each episode, she takes on a new persona, showcasing the impressive acting range of Rose McIver. Alongside co-stars Rahul Kohli and Malcolm Goodwin, the series combines a "brain of the week" procedural format with serialized plotlines, creating a memorable and entertaining world where bedtime stories come to life... and could be lethal. – BA
