Alex Trebek, originally named George Alexander Trebek and born on July 22, 1940, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, was a renowned host of the popular TV game show, Jeopardy! The show was broadcasted in syndication from 1984 until his unfortunate demise in Los Angeles, California, on November 8, 2020.

Throughout his career, Alex Trebek appeared on TV as himself in guest appearances or voiced himself in various shows, including a character modeled after him called Alex Lebek in an episode of Arthur titled "Arthur and the Big Riddle." In the Rugrats episode "Game Show Didi," he was given the name Alan Quebec. He also made cameo appearances as himself in the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo Wii U versions of Jeopardy! Johnny Gilbert, popular for his voice-over work, joined him in the same show.

Although he was born in Canada, Alex Trebek became a U.S. citizen in the late 1990s. He lived in California with his wife, Jean, and their two kids, Emily and Matthew, for several years. It was on March 6, 2019, that Trebek was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. Despite vowing to heal, he endured a lot of pain caused by the ailment and ultimately passed away on November 8, 2020, aged 80. In his honor, Stage 10 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California, was renamed "The Alex Trebek Stage."

In July 2020, four months before his passing, Alex Trebek authored a book about his life entitled The Answer Is... Reflections on My Life, which became a best seller and was published by Simon & Schuster. He also received a posthumous tribute from Lisa Rogak, who wrote a book about his life titled Who Is Alex Trebek? and published it via Thomas Dunne Books in the same month.

Alex Trebek was an extraordinary figure, and his unforgettable contributions will always be remembered through his works.
