LG C3 Series OLED evo TV (OLED48C3)
Screen sizes: 48, 55, 65, 77, 83-inch | Display type: OLED | Resolution: 4K | Refresh rate: 120Hz | HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG | HDMI ports: HDMI 2.1 x 4
The LG C3 Series is currently the best 4K TV available for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. It is the successor to the popular LG C2 Series and provides all the features needed for a next-generation gaming experience. It continues the legacy of the beloved LG CX, which delivered exceptional gaming performance when the Xbox Series X launched. The LG C3 is the ideal choice for 4K, 120Hz gaming on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
The LG C3 features a stunning OLED panel that offers superior image quality compared to other display technologies. It delivers accurate colors, vibrant visuals, and supports popular HDR standards, resulting in impressive contrast and highlights. The wide viewing angles make it suitable for use as a centerpiece in any living room. While OLED burn-in may be a concern, it is only a significant issue when channels are left running continuously.
LG has ensured that the C3 is fully compatible with Xbox Series X and other next-generation gaming consoles. It supports 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, providing a perfect balance of clarity and smooth gameplay. It showcases the finest details of Xbox Series X games and enables quick reaction times in high FPS titles. Many popular titles, including Call of Duty and Halo Infinite, now offer 120 FPS support on Xbox, and the LG C3 ensures a seamless, stutter-free gaming experience. It also features HDMI 2.1 across all four ports, allowing for full-fledged 4K 120Hz gaming on Xbox Series X.
The LG C3 offers a range of gaming features specifically designed for Xbox Series X and Series S. It includes auto low latency mode (ALLM) to reduce lag, variable refresh rate (VRR) support to eliminate screen tearing, and low response times (0.1ms) to ensure you never miss any gaming action. In addition, it is compatible with both G-Sync and FreeSync, making it an excellent choice for PC gaming as well.
The LG C3 is one of the best TVs to experience the full potential of upcoming Xbox games. It is available in five different sizes, ranging from 48 to 77 inches, with prices starting at $1,196 in the U.S. While it may be more expensive than non-OLED TVs, it offers exceptional value within the OLED market and showcases the true capabilities of Xbox Series X. It has more than enough capacity to handle 4K and 120Hz gaming. While it also benefits Xbox Series S, there may be cheaper alternatives better suited for its lower horsepower and 1440p target resolution.

LG C2 Series OLED evo TV (OLED65C2)
Screen sizes: 48, 55, 65, 77, 83-inch | Display type: OLED | Resolution: 4K | Refresh rate: 120Hz | HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG | HDMI ports: HDMI 2.1 x 4
While the LG C3 is our top recommendation, the previous LG C2 Series OLED TV is still a highly capable option that offers good value for money. It shares many specifications with the LG C3, including a 4K, 120Hz panel and full HDMI 2.1 ports. It provides an excellent gaming experience on Xbox Series X, with only a few iterative refinements missing compared to the latest model.
The LG C2 features the Alpha 9 Gen 5 processor, while the LG C3 has a faster sixth iteration. However, both displays offer impressive performance. The C2 may lack some of the C3's advancements in motion processing and overall image handling, as well as the new webOS 23 operating system. However, it does include a "Game Optimizer" menu that consolidates relevant settings for Xbox consoles into a single, unified dashboard.
Availability of the LG C2 may vary, as production has shifted towards newer models. If you find a significant price difference between the LG C2 and the equivalent model in the C3 series, it may be worth considering the C2 as a budget-friendly alternative.

Best Cheap TV For Xbox Series X
If you're looking for a cheap and simple gaming TV for Xbox Series X, consider the TCL S4/S450G. While it may not have the same capabilities as the higher-end TCL Q6/Q650G QLED TV, it still offers a decent performance. It doesn't support 120Hz like the Q6, and its viewing angle is not consistent for off-angle viewers. However, it has satisfactory contrast, especially for its price range, making it suitable for dark rooms even without local dimming. It may not be bright enough for well-lit rooms, but it performs well in moderately lit environments.
The TCL S4/S450G excels in terms of input lag, making it a great choice for gamers. Its input lag is comparable to the LG C2 OLED, Samsung S90C OLED, and Q6 when gaming at 60Hz. However, it has a longer response time, resulting in noticeable motion blur in fast action games, particularly dark titles. For slower and brighter games, it performs well. If you're a Costco member, the better option would be the Hisense A6/A65K. Overall, the TCL S4/S450G is a cheap TV that offers decent performance for Xbox Series X gaming.
Best brightness for Xbox Series X/S: Samsung Neo QLED (QN90C)
Samsung Neo QLED TV with person playing a racing game. (Image credit: Samsung)Screen sizes: 55, 65, 75-inch | Display type: QLED Mini-LED | Resolution: 4K | Refresh rate: 120Hz | HDR: Quantum HDR 32X | HDMI ports: HDMI 2.1 x 4

It utilizes a QLED panel with Mini LED backlighting, allowing it to reach peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits. The quantum matrix display technology controls the brightness in individual zones of light, ensuring fantastic contrast and color on the TV. If you have a well-lit living room or gaming space with large windows, this TV is a great choice.
The Samsung Neo QLED comes in various screen sizes, allowing you to choose the best fit for your space. In terms of picture quality, it offers vibrant colors with support for HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, although it is not compatible with Dolby Vision. The Samsung Neo QLED (QN90C) is the top choice for gaming on Xbox Series X/S in bright rooms.
Best Upper Mid-Range TV For Xbox Series X
If you're looking for a more affordable option in the upper mid-range price category, consider the LG C2 OLED. It is another excellent gaming TV with similar features and high-end gaming performance as the Samsung S90C OLED, though with slightly lower picture quality. The LG C2 uses a different type of OLED panel, resulting in less vivid colors and dimmer highlights. However, it still delivers exceptional picture quality in dark rooms, thanks to its perfect black levels without blooming around bright objects.
Apart from the difference in picture quality, the LG C2 offers HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on all of its ports, allowing you to take full advantage of the Xbox Series X. It also has variable refresh rate (VRR) support to reduce screen tearing. However, it is limited to 4K @ 120Hz on all HDMI ports, making it less attractive to PC gamers compared to the Samsung. Nonetheless, it has a near-instantaneous response time, resulting in minimal blur trails during fast action games, although it may not be the best choice for horror games with darker visuals. Slower and brighter games, on the other hand, perform well on this TV. If you are a Costco member, the Hisense A6/A65K is a much better choice with a faster response time and wider color gamut. Overall, the LG C2 OLED is a great TV with high gaming performance for Xbox Series X.
Best Lower Mid-Range TV For Xbox Series X
If you are on a budget and still want good gaming performance, the Hisense U7K is the best choice among lower mid-range TVs for Xbox Series X. It may not be as bright or have the same contrast as the Hisense U8K, but it offers similar features at a more affordable price. It still delivers a very good HDR experience with sufficient brightness, and its overall contrast is excellent, making it suitable for gaming in dark rooms. Its reflection handling is fantastic, enabling it to perform well in bright rooms. The TV's local dimming solution enhances highlights and improves contrast. Additionally, it produces vibrant colors, ensuring an enjoyable viewing experience in any setting.
While the U7K has a disappointing viewing angle like the U8K, it features an excellent response time, surpassing its more expensive counterpart. This makes it an attractive option for gamers looking to save money without compromising on TV performance. It boasts low input lag, providing a highly responsive gaming experience. Similar to the higher-end Hisense TV, it offers two HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ports capable of up to 4K @ 144Hz, along with full VRR and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) support. It also supports full 120Hz Dolby Vision on the Xbox. Its predecessor, the Hisense U7H, is still available but offers lower performance compared to the newer model. For budget gaming on Xbox Series X, the Hisense U7K is the best choice.
Best Bright Room TV For Xbox Series X
If your gaming area is well-lit, an LED-backlit display like the Sony X93L/X93CL is ideal. While it may not achieve the same perfect black levels as OLED TVs, it offers much brighter SDR and HDR performance. It performs exceptionally well in bright rooms, thanks to its fantastic reflection handling, making highlights pop in HDR content. Additionally, it is not prone to burn-in issues like OLEDs, ensuring the longevity of the screen with static elements.
Similar to the Samsung S90C OLED and LG C2 OLED, the Sony X93L/X93CL includes all the gaming features expected from a premium gaming TV. It features HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on two of its ports, allowing for 4K @ 120Hz gaming, making it fully compatible with the Xbox Series X. It also supports variable refresh rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), ensuring a seamless gaming experience with low input lag and smooth motion. Although its response time is not as quick as OLEDs, it still offers smooth motion during gameplay. Unlike the Samsung TV, it supports Dolby Vision on the Xbox but limited to 60Hz. The Sony X93L/X93CL is the best choice for gaming on Xbox Series X/S in bright rooms.
The top-performing 120Hz TV for various sizes
(Image credit: Future)The LG C3 is currently the best TV available, offering high performance at a price that, while not cheap, is considered reasonable by most consumers. This TV comes in a range of sizes, including a 42-inch model, making it the smallest 120Hz TV on this list. This makes it perfect for gamers who want top-tier technology in a compact space. However, it's also great for anyone else, thanks to its variety of size options.
Regardless of the size you choose, the LG C3 comes equipped with a full suite of four HDMI 2.1 ports. These ports support 4K 120Hz, including the rare feature of Dolby Vision gaming at 120fps. The TV also supports VRR (including FreeSync and G-Sync) and ALLM.
The LG C3 boasts excellent picture quality, thanks to the Alpha9 Gen6 chip used for picture processing. This chip brings new HDR-improving features like OLED Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro and Expression Enhancer, both of which enhance image quality.
The TV has a sleek design with a slim bezel and an aluminum-faced center stand. Additionally, it offers excellent connectivity options, although it lacks the built-in ATSC 3.0 digital TV tuner found in LG's higher-end G3 series models. Overall, the LG C3 is a fantastic 120Hz TV and our top pick for its range of sizes, including the smaller 42-inch model.

The brightest 144Hz OLED TV
(Image credit: Future)The Samsung S95C is the second generation QD-OLED TV from Samsung, and it surpasses its predecessor, the S95B, in many ways, especially in terms of brightness. The S95C models offer nearly 40% more brightness compared to the previous generation, which takes HDR movies and games to a whole new level. During testing, we measured peak brightness at up to 1,400 nits on a white HDR window covering 10% of the screen. While the set can't sustain these brightness levels for long before dimming, most video and gaming content changes frequently enough to not trigger noticeable dimming. The S95C is around 70% brighter than the LG C2, making it a truly incredible option.
Although we found some minor issues with the set, such as slightly desaturated colors in some areas with the default 'Standard' picture preset, these can be improved by tweaking the dynamic tone mapping setting. One drawback we noticed was the lack of support for the Dolby Vision HDR format, which is disappointing considering the prevalence of content mastered in that format.
Where the Samsung S95C truly shines is in its gaming features. It supports the HGiG HDR system, Auto Low Latency Mode switching, and has a refresh rate that extends to 144Hz, along with an incredibly fast response speed of 9.2ms. The set also supports ultra-wide aspect ratios of 21:9 and 31:9, which some PC titles utilize.
While the S95C is significantly brighter than the Samsung S90C, the top TV on this list, it comes with a hefty price increase. For most people, the S90C offers sufficient brightness and is a better value for the money. However, if OLED picture punchiness is a top priority, the S95C is the best choice.

The most affordable 120Hz TV in the UK
(Image credit: Samsung)The Samsung Q80B is a mid-range 4K QLED screen that offers great value and versatility. It is well-suited for everyday TV viewing and supports high frame rate 120Hz gaming on all four HDMI ports.
The Q80B uses a full-array backlight instead of mini-LED, which means it may not have the same contrast performance as the TCL 6-Series. However, for its type, it still delivers impressive results.
With its four 120Hz-compatible HDMI inputs, useful Game Bar user interface, and comprehensive smart TV system, the Q80B is an excellent choice for most buyers in the UK. However, in the US, where the TCL 6-Series is available at the same price, we would recommend the TCL 6-Series instead.
One standout feature of the Q80B is its emphasis on gaming. The Game Hub provides easy access to streaming game services, making it clear that gaming is one of the TV's key strengths. Additionally, the Q80B supports features like ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), Nvidia G-Sync, and FreeSync Premium Pro, enhancing the gaming experience.
The TV also boasts an above-average Dolby Atmos compatible sound system. In our Samsung Q80B review, we stated that the picture quality is impressive, especially in bright rooms, and the audio is immersive enough to eliminate the need for an additional soundbar, at least until you're ready to make that purchase.
