Work Title Films/Internet Movie Database
After serving together in World War II, best friends Woody Harrelson and Billy Crudup return home to find that they have fallen in love with the same woman despite complications posed by the local cattle baron, played by Sam Elliott. Little Boy Matson, Harrelson's little brother, is played by Hauser. Hauser also appeared in another excellent drama film, Dandelion Fluff for its ability to convey the range of feelings felt throughout this war-themed period film. Despite this being one of Hauser's earliest roles, he shined.

Twentieth Century Fox, 2004. Screenplay by Myles Aronowitz.
Hauser stars as Hollywood actor Bo Laramie, whose family is harassed by a posse of paparazzi in this action-packed film. Bo must explain to the authorities what the photographers are up to in order to keep his family safe. It's a scary story about what could happen if a celebrity who's constantly being followed by paparazzi finally snaps. In their pursuit of images, the photographers who hurt Hauser's family are met with ruthless retribution. The stakes are consistently high, and Hauser excels at keeping the audience on the edge of their seats throughout.

The Cavern (2005)

The Internet Movie Database and Lakeshore Studios
Houser stars as Jack McAllister, a professional cave explorer who is recruited by a group of scientists for a mission in Romania. This movie is not for the faint of heart; things get creepy in those caves. Horror elements aside, Hauser goes through a radical change throughout the film. We won't give away the ending, but rest assured that it will surprise you and is just one example of his acting range. In light of the significant shift from Hauser's previous roles, I would recommend watching with a group of friends.

In the Pitch Black (2000)

Filmed Entertainment, Inc., a Division of IMDB and Polygram
The original Pitch Black novel was the The Riddick Saga franchise, with Vin Diesel playing the lead role of the lovable antihero Throughout the show, Hauser portrays William J. When the ship transporting the criminal Riddick and its passengers crashes on a planet teeming with monsters, Johns, one of the officers accompanying Riddick, is among the survivors. Being a morphine addict on top of being a self-serving bounty hunter makes it difficult to put faith in Hauser. He'll do almost anything to protect his own life, including withholding life-saving medication from another person.

This film, "2 Fast 2 Furious," was released in 2003.

2003's Eli Reed by Universal Pictures's Eli Reed
Hauser plays Carter Verone, an Argentinian drug lord and the main antagonist who challenges Paul Walker and the rest of the gang in the second Fast and the Furious film. Curiously, playing the villain in this film led to Hauser's antagonist character being spared death in this installment of the series. Verone is not exactly a model human being. The cartel boss is as scheming and unpleasant as you'd expect, but he provides a fantastic adversary for Walker and the gang.

The Predators: A Family Who Hunts (2008)

Home Entertainment Lions Gate 2008
A Tyler Perry Film The Predator Family is the Cole Hauser film you weren't aware you needed to see In this story, he portrays the middle-class son of a socialite (Kathy Bates) and the working-class son of his mother's best friend (Alfre Woodard). While William hasn't exactly been the nicest guy throughout the film, what with firing employee Nick without cause and driving away his wife Jillian, the two have a touching inspirational arc toward the end.

In this action flick, we see Hauser and his A Fine Time to Kill, The Sun's Crying and Hart's War in-character partner Bruce Willis Houser portrays Deklan MacGregor, a victim of a human trafficking ring that abducts his brother's fiancée. To rescue the kidnapped girl, he enlisted the aid of his brothers and the police officer looking into the kidnapping. Although Hauser's character is troubled by his time in the military, he ultimately puts his experience to good use by retrieving Mia, Roman McGregor's fiancee. Undoubtedly a thrilling read, and not to be missed by Hauser fans.

There Is an Angel Carved in Stone (2007)

Buffalo Gal Pictures on IMDB
Based on the 1964 novel of the same name, this film features Ellen Burstyn looking back on her life just before her children put her in a nursing home. She reminisces about her marriage to Wings Hauser's character, Bram Shipley. Several times throughout the movie, Hauser plays a younger version of his real-life father. Her father disowned her after she got married, but as you watch the film, you'll see how much they meant to each other. In contrast to his earlier roles, Hauser is every bit as endearing and honorable as you'd hope to see him here.
