Lively, Blake
Blake Ellender Brown, aka Lively, was born on August 25th, 1987 in Los Angeles' Tarzana neighborhood. Elaine, her mother, was a talent scout, and Ernie Lively, her father, was an actor. Lively is named after her great-uncle who passed away when she was young. She has an older brother named Eric, as well as three half-siblings named Lori, Robyn, and Jason from her mother's first marriage. Her whole family has a storied history in show business. [7][8]
Lively's parents did not want to leave her with a babysitter, so they took her along when they taught acting classes when she was young. She said that observing her parents as teachers gave her the foundation she needed to enter the field with poise and competence. At age 10, she made her film debut in her father's directorial debut, Sandman (1998). To her, it was just a "bit part," she says. [10] She wasn't always keen on acting and instead planned to enroll at Stanford. [5]
She went to Burbank High School, where she participated in the choral program, served as student body president, and was a cheerleader. [11] During the summer, she attended a number of auditions thanks to her older brother, who contacted a talent agent. She was cast as Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005) and filmed her scenes between her junior and senior years of high school, [4]. [12]
Film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants came out in 2005. Teen Choice nominated Lively for "Choice Movie Breakout - Female" for her performance. In 2006, Lively starred alongside Justin Long in Accepted, and in the following year, she appeared in supporting roles in both the horror film Simon Says and the comedy The Other Guys. Even though critics panned Accepted, Lively was recognized with Hollywood Life's "Breakthrough Award" for her performance. Lively played the bulimic title character in Elvis and Anabelle (2007), where she aspired to win a beauty pageant. According to Lively, she "shed serious weight" (in relation to her height) to get into character for the role. As she put it, food is "the No. the one and only true love of my life The Movie Line, 15()[15] com said that her role in the film was her "breakthrough role" because of how well she performed. [16]
The CW's Gossip Girl, adapted from the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, debuted in September 2007 with Lively in the lead role. Lively had already put off starting college for a year, but when she was told she could take classes while filming the show, she couldn't resist the role despite her desire to return to school. however, we are unable to commit this to writing at this time for legal reasons." Up until the show's cancellation in 2012, [17] she starred as Serena van der Woodsen. [18][19] In the November 2007 issue of CosmoGirl, her first magazine cover, she talked about her life before Gossip Girl and her time in high school. [20]
Lively returned to the role of Bridget in the 2008 film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. In the same vein as the first film, Lively's performance was well received by reviewers. Over $44 million had been made from ticket sales by the end of November 2008 [21][22]. She played the role of Gabrielle DiMarco in the 2009 romantic comedy New York, I Love You, a sequel to the film Paris, je t'aime (2006). The film received mostly positive reviews but bombed at the box office. [24][25]
In the 2009 film The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, Lively earned praise for her portrayal of a younger version of the title character. Paul Byrnes, writing for the Brisbane Times, called Lively's performance in the film "sensational" [26]. For the 2010 film The Town, based on Chuck Hogan's novel Prince of Thieves, Lively started filming her scenes in October 2009. [28] On September 17, 2010, the film starring and directed by Ben Affleck was released in the United States. As the moll and the single mother, Lively "has fierce, pained moments," as Variety put it in their review of her performance. cast aside Towards the end of that year, Lively and Jessica Alba co-starred in a music video for The Lonely Island's "I Just Had Sex. For the June 2011 release of the superhero film Green Lantern, Blake Lively played Carol Ferris, the film's female lead and Hal Jordan's love interest. The film earned $219,851,172 internationally. Among Time's annual list of the 100 most influential people, she was profiled that year [32]. In addition, she was named the most desirable woman by AskMen.com in 2011[33] and one of the Most Beautiful People of 2012 by People magazine[34]. [35]
Lively's first major makeup campaign was with L'Oreal in October 2013, when the company named her the brand's new face. [38] Lively starred alongside Michiel Huisman and Harrison Ford in 2015's The Age of Adaline as a woman who "stops aging after recovering from a near-fatal accident." The film grossed million, making it a modest commercial success. 7 million, off a $25 million budget Lively's "potential as a leading lady," according to The Atlantic, was on display in the film's second half, where she "clipped delivery and coy restraint" and "capable perform[ance]" within the film's emotional intensity were particularly praised. Lively starred in the 2016 horror film The Shallows, numbering among the film's 43 credits. [44] Critics praised the film, and Lively's performance specifically. Lively also starred in Café Society, a romantic comedy directed by Woody Allen and premiering at the 69th Cannes Film Festival. Lively said of Allen, "It's really cool to work with a director who's done so much, because he knows exactly what he wants," and she also noted that he was "very empowering." [45]
Mixed reviews met the premiere of All I See Is You (2016), starring Blake Lively and Jason Clarke, at the Toronto International Film Festival. Lively, Anna Kendrick, and Henry Golding starred in Paul Feig's mystery-thriller A Simple Favor in 2018. Lively's performance was praised upon the movie's September 14 release. After all, she does have her moments, as noted by Variety: [48][49] several involving actual bodily affliction Emily, played by Lively, manages to be both repulsive and alluring. Lively then starred as a drug addict-turned-assassin in The Rhythm Section, a film adaptation of the Mark Burnell novel of the same name, directed by Reed Morano and produced by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. On January 31, 2020, Paramount Pictures released the film to the public. Remarkably, Variety said that Lively's performance "display[s] a realistic near-incompetence in the face of danger [that] makes her relatable in ways very few cinematic assassins have ever been." "[53][54]
Lively's casting as Josie Schuller, the film's protagonist, was announced in May of 2021.1 Released on November 15, 2021, from Taylor Swift's re-recorded album Red (Taylor's Version) (2021), the music video for the song "I Bet You Think About Me" featuring American singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton marked Lively's directorial debut. Lively's first feature film as a director will be an adaptation of the Bryan Lee O'Malley comic book Seconds, with Edgar Wright penning the screenplay and serving as executive producer, as announced in April of 2022. [57]
Lively calls herself an "aspiring chef"[59] and has called Martha Stewart her "idol." Nigella Lawson is another author that she enjoys. The Martha Stewart Show episode from 2008 featured Lively baking a cake alongside Stewart. Lively "hoped one day to have an interior decorating company," she said in 2009. [61] She cited her interest in antiques and her fascination with "colors and textures and layering things" as the inspiration for this ambition. In 2010, she took part in a specialized workshop at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, and she has since expressed interest in pursuing further training there. [62]
She has said that one of her favorite ways to experience a new culture is through its cuisine, so she makes a point of taking cooking classes wherever she goes. Lively has been vocal about her aspiration to open a restaurant on multiple occasions (in 2010 and 2011). She developed the s'mores cupcake for sale at Sprinkles bakeries in 2011 [65][66]. In 2012, Martha Stewart Weddings published a spread featuring food photography from Lively's wedding reception. She had a custom La Cornue oven made for her 2013 Bedford house and wrote about the process for Elle Decor. [68] She made a cooking video for Vogue in 2013. 's website where brie pastry preparation is shown [69] In 2014, Lively released Preserve, a digital magazine and e-commerce website selling handmade, one-of-a-kind items that she had personally selected;[70] on October 9, 2015, Lively shut down the site, saying that it had been launched before it was ready and that she intended to rebuild and relaunch it properly. [71]
Lively voted for Barack Obama in the 2008 United States presidential election. As part of MoveOn.org's Youth Vote program, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley starred in an Obama campaign commercial. Doug Liman helmed the commercial that played during CW, MTV, and Comedy Central's airings of "Gossip Girl." She was featured in a 2013 video for Gucci's "Chime for Change" campaign, which supports initiatives to improve women's access to education, healthcare, and legal representation. In addition, Lively has helped bring more attention to the issue of children who go missing or are exploited, as well as the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to find them, as stated in [73]. [74]
Lively dated her fellow Gossip Girl actor Penn Badgley from 2007 until 2010. [75][76]
Lively and Reynolds' daughters inspired Taylor Swift to pen the song "Betty," and the couple is good friends with Swift. [85][86]
