Time is ticking away, the Chinese takeout is gone, and you're ready to pop the cork on the bubbly, but what should you watch as the clock strikes midnight? Whatever your New Year's Eve plans may be in 2023, whether you're spending them with fellow Top 40 fans, country music devotees, friends with refined tastes, the kids, or anyone else, television and streaming services will have something to suit your needs.

You can watch the ball drop in Times Square like you always have, or you can party like Miley Cyrus and watch Anderson Cooper down shots on live TV. On December 31, 2022, there will be numerous television specials to keep you company as you welcome in the New Year of 2023.

The "Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest Rockin' New Year's Eve" Special

'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest'

Originally broadcast on television in 1971, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve was hosted by Clark. Until his death in 2012, the famous host led the annual New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square, complete with musical guests and the dropping of the ball over the city.

This year's special will air live on ABC at 8pm EST and will feature performances by Duran Duran, New Edition, J-Hope, and breakout artist Jax, with YouTuber-turned-actor Lilly Koshy and country singer Jesse James Decker serving as co-hosts to Ryan Seacrest.

'Miley's New Year's Eve Party'

From her upcoming 2021 NBC special Miley's New Year's Eve Party to her 2006 Disney Channel special New Year Sing-A-Long Bowl-A-Thon, Miley Cyrus is no stranger to hosting New Year's specials.

NBC has renewed Miley Cyrus's New Year's Eve party for a second year, and this time around the guest list includes not only Cyrus's megastar godmother Dolly Parton but also Fletcher, Latto, Liily, Rae Sremmurd, and Sia.

'Nashville’s Big Bash'

CBS will broadcast New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on December 31. The show will be hosted by Elle King and Jimmie Allen, and will feature performances by Kelsea Ballerini, Zac Brown Band, and Brooks & Dunn.

Several big names in country music, such as Little Big Town, Jason Aldean, Sheryl Crow, and Luke Bryan, will be performing during the five-hour special that airs live on CBS and streams live on Paramount.

'New Year's Eve Live'

Even though CNN isn't the first place most people think of when planning a New Year's Eve bash, it's still a great option. Anderson Cooper and his best friend Andy Cohen have hosted CNN's New Year's Eve Live from New York City for the past twenty years.

Come this year to see guests like Patti LaBelle, REO Speedwagon, John Stamos, and Ava Max, but stay for the hilarious hosting moments from Anderson Cooper and Sacha Baron Cohen, who memorably drink alcohol live on air and give viewers a glimpse into the tipsy lives of the two friends.

'A Toast To 2022!'

New Year's Eve will begin with NBC's A Toast to 2022. Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush-Hager, hosts of NBC's TODAY, will begin hosting the show at 8 p.m. EST tonight. Miley Cyrus, another New Year's host, Dolly Parton, George Lopez, Martha Stewart, Kenan Thompson, and more will all make appearances in the special.

The two-hour special will feature interviews with celebrities like Christie Brinkley, Lester Holt, Carson Kressley, Mario Lopez, Johnny Weir, and many more as Kotb and Bush-Hager reflect on the year 2022.

'Happy New Year, Charlie Brown!'

Apple TV is perfect for keeping the kids occupied while the host finishes final preparations. In 2021, Apple TV will be the only place to watch Happy New Year, Charlie Brown and the other classic Peanuts holiday specials thanks to an exclusive licensing deal.

This special, which debuted on CBS on New Year's Day, 1986, shows the gang getting ready for the holiday while Charlie Brown spends the day worrying about his upcoming book report on War and Peace.

'2022 Back That Year Up With Kevin Hart And Kenan Thompson'

While you patiently await the start of the live specials, Peacock has already released an end-of-the-year special that looks back on 2022 through the lens of comedy. 2022 Back That Year Up is a one-hour Peacock Original hosted by comedians Kenan Thompson and Kevin Hart.

Guests such as Nick Canonn, Quinta Brunson, Rob Gronkowski, Terry Crews, and more join Thompson and Hart as they sit sports commentator-style as they reflect on the year's biggest moments in pop culture, social media, politics, and sports.

'Skylanders Academy New Year’s Eve Countdown'

Each year, Netflix creates a special New Year's Eve countdown for children, aimed at those who are too young to stay up until midnight or who simply can't keep their eyes open for that long.

The Skylanders Academy New Year's Eve Countdown remains available on Netflix despite the fact that many other Netflix countdowns have been removed over the years. A special running for just one minute that would show the Skylanders gang celebrating New Year's Eve and give kids watching at home a chance to count down with them

'New Year's Eve Fireworks Around The World'

NBC News Now, an online streaming network, features a worldwide firework show that showcases the dazzling New Year's Eve festivities happening around the world, perfect for those who are staying in and not venturing out in search of a traditional New Year's celebration.

At 9 p.m. EST on New Year's Eve, you can watch a special online broadcast featuring fireworks shows from all over the world as people say goodbye to 2022 and hello to 2023.

'United In Song 2022'

A brand new PBS special, United in Song 2022: Ringing in the New Year Together, will air at 8 p.m. EST on December 31. It will celebrate the strength of song and the variety of music, from rock to Broadway to country to folk.

The American Pops Orchestra will be joined by a diverse lineup of performers, including pop star Jason Derulo, Encanto star Carolina Gaitán, Hamilton alum Mandy Gonzalez, country singer Brett Young, and singer/songwriter Natalie Grant.
