Yumi's Cells

This webcomic adaptation and ultimate comfort drama revolve around Yumi, a woman in her early 30s who works in an office and has experienced heartbreak. 4 Dramas Not to Waste Your Time On

1. Cheese in the Trap (2016)

This drama starts off promisingly. The webtoon it is based on is clever and nuanced, and the show initially captures that essence. However, halfway through the series, the main male lead suddenly disappears. There were behind-the-scenes issues that remain undisclosed, but this turn of events diminishes the show's quality in just a few episodes. I didn't even bother watching the finale once I read the recap.

2. 12 Years Promise (2014)

I couldn't bear to watch this drama. It was dragged out and boring, and the characters didn't make sense. Even the way they end up sleeping together feels forced and awkward. I started skipping through episodes just to see what would happen, and when I realized the resolution was unsatisfying, I gave up entirely.

3. I Need Romance

Cho Yeo Jeong (who you might recognize as the wealthy mother from Parasite) is one of my favorite actresses. However, this drama was a mess. Her character was incredibly annoying, especially considering Cho's talent showcased in her other works. The relationship between In Young and Sung Soo is strange and toxic, and I don't believe he ever does anything to deserve forgiveness for cheating on her.

4. I Need Romance 2012

I didn't dislike this one as much as the first drama on this list, but it didn't captivate me either. I remember thinking that Ji Hoon and Yeol Mae's relationship progressed too quickly for the plot, and Yeol Mae came across as rather whiny.

Phewww! If you've made it through nearly 4,000 words on my K-dramas, I'm sorry haha! But also, I hope it was helpful! Now I have a proper list to send to my friends when they ask for recommendations!
