Early life [ edit ]

In Seattle, Washington, Robinson entered the world on March 22nd, 1995. To begin with, he is the oldest of five ([1][3][4]) Mother's name: Denise Podnar [5] When Robinson landed a regular role on Melissa & Joey, he dropped out of Seattle Preparatory School in the middle of his freshman year and relocated to Los Angeles. Seven, he received his diploma from Campbell Hall in 2013. While filming season eight of Melissa & Joey, he attended the College of Arts and Sciences at New York University during the summer.

Career [ edit ]

At the tender age of eleven, Robinson made his stage acting debut in a production of A Christmas Carol, based on the novel by Charles Dickens. Robinson was signed with the Savage Agency in Los Angeles after being recommended by talent scout Matt Casella to several other agencies. Because of the WGA strike in 2007–2008, Robinson and his family had to return to Washington state, but he kept performing around the Seattle area. [9][10]

Robinson began playing Ryder Scanlon on the ABC Family sitcom Melissa & Joey in 2010, and he remained in the role until the show was canceled in 2015.

While on break from Melissa & Joey in 2011, Robinson filmed the Disney Channel original movie Frenemies, in which he played the role of Jake Logan. On the Disney Channel in January of 2012, Frenemies made its debut. [11]

Robinson landed the lead role of Joe Toy in director Jordan Vogt-Roberts' 2012 film The Kings of Summer. In the third season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, he had a guest role in the episode titled "Blue Bell Boy." In addition, he started appearing in "Buffer Time is Bonding Time" commercials for Cox Communications. "

At the 2015 TIFF, Robinson starred in a film.

Robinson gained widespread recognition in 2015 for his role as Zach Mitchell in the blockbuster film Jurassic World. January 2016 saw the release of the film version of the novel The 5th Wave, in which he played the role of Ben Parish. These commitments prevented him from appearing in many episodes of Melissa & Joey's final season, but he did come back for the last three. [14]

The semi-autobiographical feature film Being Charlie, about director Rob Reiner's relationship with his son, featured him as the lead; the film had its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival[15] and was released in theaters the following year.

The comedy-drama Krystal,[16] starring William H. Macy, was one of his 2017 projects, and he also played the lead role of Olly in the film adaptation of the same name. [17]

Robinson portrayed Simon Spier, the film's protagonist, in 2018. The film Love, Simon is a coming-of-age drama for gay teens. As the first feature film from a major studio to center on a gay teen romance, it made history. Robinson's turn as Simon was praised by critics [18]. Robinson said that after reading the script he decided to make an exception to his rule against playing high school students because of the film's cultural significance. He had a supporting role in the 2019 adaptation of Richard Wright's Native Son, the film's third iteration. [20]

Robinson co-starred in the FX miniseries A Teacher[21] and appeared in two episodes of the Hulu spinoff series Love, Victor in 2020. With Margaret Qualley and Andie MacDowell, he co-starred in the 2021 Netflix miniseries Maid. [22][23] In particular, Robinson's performance in the show was praised. [24]
