Actor Adam Scott

American actor, comedian, and producer Adam Paul Scott[1] (born April 3, 1973) Recognized for his portrayal of Ben Wyatt on the hit NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation, for which he received two nominations for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, he has become a household name. In addition to his role as Trevor on NBC's The Good Place, he has played the roles of Derek Huff in Step Brothers, Johnny Meyer in The Aviator, Henry Pollard on Starz's Party Down, Ed Mackenzie in HBO's Big Little Lies, and many others. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as the protagonist in the 2022 Apple TV psychological drama series Severance.

Early life [ edit ]

Santa Cruz, California is where Scott's parents, Anne ( née The two retired educators (Quartararo)[2] and Simon Dougald Scott[3][4] On his mother's side, he has a quarter of Sicilian ancestry, [5][6]. (7) He has two older brothers and a sister named Shannon and David He attended Harbor High[8] and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, California, where he received his diploma[5]. When Scott attended the 2012 TIFF, he made quite the impression.

Scott has made appearances in a number of films, including Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996), Star Trek: First Contact (1996), The Lesser Evil (1998), High Crimes (2002), The Aviator (2004), Torque (2004), Monster-in-Law (2005), Who Loves the Sun (2006), Knocked Up (2007), Step Brothers (2008), August (2008), Piranha 3D (2010), and Leap Year (2010).

Scott's name appears in the broadcast credits alongside Jon Hamm's name in the film Anchorman. He explained that this was because of his and Hamm's friendship with producer Shauna Robertson, who hid their names in the credits as an Easter egg. This was confirmed during his appearance on G4's Attack of the Show! on April 21, 2011. In the 2013 reboot of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, he played the role of Walter Mitty's despicable corporate boss, Ted Hendricks.

Scott has played Jeremy in Our Idiot Brother (2011) and starred in Bachelorette in 2012. His role as Jason Fryman in Friends with Kids (2012) was another breakout role for him. Scott was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor for his performance as Caleb Sinclaire in the 2010 film The Vicious Kind, a more dramatic role than his previous comedic endeavors. The film was well-received by critics, and he took home prizes from not one but two film festivals for his efforts. Cast as the lead, he made his DVD debut on October 26, 2010 with the release of Passenger Side. [12]

At the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, Scott's film A.C.O.D. had its world premiere. He co-starred in the Christmas horror comedy Krampus and served as an executive producer on the 2015 comedy film The Overnight, in which he played the role of Alex. [15]

He is known for his roles as Griff Hawkins on Boy Meets World, Josh on Party of Five, and Ben Cooper, David's romantic interest on Six Feet Under. In the 2007 HBO drama Tell Me You Love Me, he portrayed Palek. In both seasons of the HBO series Eastbound & Down, Scott played the role of a cocaine-addicted, delirious baseball front office representative. He made an appearance on the Starz network's show Party Down in both 2009 and 2010. In 2009, he was nominated for an Entertainment Weekly Ewwy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance in Party Down. [16]

Scott joined the cast of Parks and Recreation, an award-winning NBC comedy series, in 2010 to play Ben Wyatt, a state auditor who comes to the fictitious town of Pawnee, Indiana to assess the town's finances. Both he and Rob Lowe made guest appearances in the second season, and he eventually became a regular. The season 7 finale aired in February of 2015.

Some of Scott's acting credits include the Adult Swim comedy Childrens Hospital. He also created and produced the annual Adult Swim special The Greatest Event in Television History and appeared in an episode of NTSF:SD:SUV:: titled "The Risky Business of Being Alone in Your Home." The episode "Relapse into Refreshment" of Nick Swardson's Pretend Time on Comedy Central featured Scott in the role of a newscaster. Several commercials promoting ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball have featured him.

Four episodes of The Good Place aired between 2016 and 2018 with Scott recurring as the demonic character Trevor. [18]

Scott starred as Madeline Mackenzie's (Reese Witherspoon) husband Ed Mackenzie in the 2017 HBO drama Big Little Lies. Scott starred alongside Craig Robinson in the one-season Fox sitcom Ghosted[19], which debuted on October 1, 2017. [20]

Scott starred in the 2020 season of the Ryan Reynolds-executive produced ABC game show Don't. [21]

When the year 2022 rolled around, Scott was a main character on the Apple TV show Severance. [22]

Podcasting [ edit ]

The Earwolf podcast U Talkin' U2 To Me, which Scott co-hosts and co-created with Scott Aukerman, premiered in February of 2014. At the beginning of each episode, it is proclaimed that this show is "the comprehensive and encyclopedic compendium of all things U2," but the show more often than not uses discussions of the band as a springboard for improv and absurdist humor. In February of 2018, Scott and Scott released a second podcast in the same style, titled R U Talkin' R.E.M., which focused on the music and history of the band R.E.M. E M Re: Me The third podcast is titled "R U Talkin' RHCP Re: Me." , premiered in July of 2020 with Scott and Scott talking about the Red Hot Chili Peppers; after only two episodes, the podcast's format was changed to focus on Talking Heads, and the name was changed to U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talkin' Head.

Scott has made appearances on a wide variety of podcasts, such as Comedy Bang! Bang!, How Did This Get Made?, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, and Kevin Pollak's Chat Show, to name just a few. [24]

In 2005, Scott tied the knot with Naomi Sablan. The couple is parents to two kids. [25]

Scott describes himself as a "die-hard" R.E.M. fan[25]. In 1992, he was an extra in the music video for the band's song "Drive." [26]

Scott revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he once invited actor Mark Hamill to a birthday party he was throwing when they were both kids. To celebrate Star Wars Day, guest host Kristen Bell invited a lightsaber-wielding Mark Hamill as a special guest, much to Scott's surprise. [27]
