Instagram Stories are a fun way to easily share interesting moments of your day with other people. Some Instagram Stories can be so cool that you’ll immediately feel compelled to share them with others.

How to Share Someone Else’s Story on Instagram

But does Instagram allow you to do that? We’ll show you how to share someone else’s story with others.

Can You Share Someone Else’s Story to Your Own

You might get tempted to share that fun meme with your Story, but is it possible? The short answer is no. Unless the person who shared the Story did tag you, you won’t be able to repost it. Fortunately, a convenient workaround will help you solve that issue, which we will be detailing in an upcoming section. Right now, we’ll show you how you can tag someone to your Story on Instagram.

How to Tag Someone To Your Story

If you want to tag a person on your Instagram story, here’s how to do it. However, the person you want to tag must follow you to make this happen.

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on Android or iPhone.

Step 2: Swipe left on your display to bring up the camera view.

Step 3: Snap a photo or load one up from your Gallery and prepare the Story.

Step 4: Now, tap anywhere on the Story.

Step 5: A few options should pop up on display, including the @Mention one at the bottom. Tap on it.

Step 6: Search for the friend you want to tag in your Story. Tap on their profile picture to add them to your Story.

Step 7: From this panel, make sure the option that reads ‘Let people you mention add this to their story?’ be turn on.

Step 8: Press Done.

Your friends or followers need to tag you and turn on the option to let others reshare their Instagram story.

How to Share Someone’s Story From Your Account

When someone tags you in their story, you get a notification as a Direct Message. This is how you can use that direct message to share someone else’s story from your Instagram account.

Step 1: Tap on the notification you’ve received. You’ll be taken to a Direct message alerting you’ve been tagged in a Story.

Step 2: Press on the ‘Add to your story’ button underneath, and Instagram will take you to the Story composing screen to post it.

How to Enable Story Sharing

If your friends or followers keep telling you that they can’t share your stories, that means you may disabled Story sharing. You’ll see the toggle to disable story sharing while you’re creating a story. However, if you’ve entirely disabled story sharing, you can reverse that from Settings. Here we’ll show you how to enable the option so that others can share your Stories.

Step 1: Open your Instagram profile on your phone, and tap on the hamburger menu in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Select Settings from the menu that pops up from the bottom.

Step 3: Go to Privacy.

Step 4: Select Story.

Step 5: Scroll down until you reach the Sharing section. Enable the toggles for ‘Allow sharing to Story’ and ‘Allow sharing to messages.’

The latter option allows users to share your Story with other people on the network via Direct messages.

How to Share Someone Else’s Story Even If You’re Not Tagged

Do you want to share a Story you’ve randomly stumbled upon, but you don’t know the owner, and you’re not tagged in it? There’s a workaround, but it isn’t neat and doesn’t work for videos. Take a screenshot of the Story.

Instagram doesn’t notify users when someone takes a screenshot. The only thing that the original Story poster will be able to see is that you viewed their Story. While this is all very well, users should not abuse this power by using the screenshots for nefarious purposes.

After taking a screenshot, you can blur or edit out the unwanted parts.

Your story will appear like you’re re-sharing someone else’s Story. However, the key difference is that when people tap on a story that has a screenshot, they can’t directly visit the original creator’s profile.

How to Send a Story to Someone Else

Another way to share a Story you like on Instagram is to send it to your friends via Direct messages. It’s not the same as sharing it on your own Story, but this way you ensure select followers will be able to see it. Sending someone a story is super easy. However, we need to note one thing – you can only send Stories from people whose account is set to Public. If you share a story from someone who has set the account visibility to private, none of your friends can view the story unless they follow the original poster.

Step 1: Open a Story on Instagram.

Step 2: Tap on the Paper plane icon in the bottom-left corner.

Step 3: Select the people from the list and press the Send button.

The person should now receive a Direct message from you containing the Story.

How to Send a Story Externally

If the person you’re trying to show the Story to doesn’t have Instagram, you can share it externally.

Step 1: Open a Story on Instagram.

Step 2: Tap on the three-dots in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Select “Share to” from the menu that pops up from the bottom.

Step 4: Select the social app where you want to send the Story.

Remember the Story you are trying to share should come from a Public account. If it’s from a private account, no one will be able to view it. Alternatively, you can take a screenshot of the Story and send it to your friend in the form of an image.

Stay Connected to Your Followers With Stories

Stories are a big part of Instagram, and so you should know every trick in the book so that you can take advantage of them to the fullest. For instance, it might be helpful if you also knew how to add multiple photos to your Story.

Disable History For Specific Websites In Chrome and Firefox

We have seen many tricks using which you can

delete history from Chrome and Firefox browsers

and ways to stop further recording of your activity to maintain privacy. Talking in general, most of us tend to

delete the entire history

in order to take care of just a few websites we’ve visited.

Clearing everything from browser is probably not convenient when you want to remove only specific websites. Also, a completely clean history only raises alarm and makes people suspicious. Today I will show you how you can automatically delete history of specific websites from Chrome and Firefox in real-time.

Deleting History in Chrome

To disable history tracking of specific websites on Chrome, we will be using History Site Blocker extension. The extension can be downloaded from Chrome Web Store but after you install the extension, you will not see any new button in the extension area. Hiding the icon is a good way to safeguard the privacy and you will have to open Chrome Extensions page to configure the extension. Click on Chrome Menu button and select Extensions from Tools.

In the Extensions page, look for the extension History Site Blocker and click on the Options link next to it. All you need to do now is write down the full root level URL of the website you want to remove from the browser history tracer. You can add multiple website links separated by commas.

Finally when you are done, save the settings. From now on, Chrome will not track any pages and sub-domain of the websites that you have mentioned in the extension. However, your browser will cover any other traces like cookies and file download from those websites, for which there is the incognito tab to the rescue.

Auto-delete History For Some Websites in Firefox

Firefox users can install the add-on HistoryBlock for the same task. After downloading the add-on from Firefox add-on center, restart your browser. Here too, just like on Chrome, you will not see any new icon on the Firefox interface and you will have to open the Extension settings to configure the plugin.

Click on Firefox Menu button and click on Add-ons. Here, under the Extension settings, look for the extension HistoryBlock and click on the options button next to it. Now here’s the tricky part. You will have to add the URLs you want to blacklist one after another and you can add only one URL at a given time. If any day you want to remove the URL to start tracking the history, you will have to manually enter the URL again and check the button Unblacklist (and then hit OK). Therefore, while configuring the add-on on Firefox, it’s very important that you remember all the URLs that you have blacklisted. Make a list and save it somewhere.

Conclusion

So that’s how you can automatically delete specific websites from the history of Chrome and Firefox. If you have the habit of clearing the entire history to get rid of just a few websites that you want to hide from the world, I am sure you will love the trick.

How to Record Audio or Sounds with Free Sound Recorder for ...

24-11-2011 · My own download and install of the 10.2 MB audio tool for Windows followed. Sound Recorder helps you record any sounds from your sound card and save the recording directly into MP3, WMA or WAV ...

24-11-2011

Remember the old visuals of reporters on the beat holding up handheld audio recorders to catch some sound bytes? Well, I recently came across a ‘different’ version of it when I visited a conference. The guy sitting next to me was using his laptop to record the speaker’s speech. He was using a free software called Sound Recorder.

He was a reporter and told me that this way he could focus on the speech and later on he could play it all back and start writing his story. He found this method much better than taking notes while listening to the speaker.

My own download and install of the 10.2 MB audio tool for Windows followed. Sound Recorder helps you record any sounds from your sound card and save the recording directly into MP3, WMA or WAV files.  As it uses the sound card, Sound Recorder can practically record all audio signals passing around it, for instance – from a microphone, streaming audio from the Internet, external input devices (like CDs, LP, music cassettes, phone line etc.) as well as other applications like Winamp and Windows Media Player. It outputs MP3, OGG, WAV, and WMA stereo files with a max bit quality of 320 kbps.

The Very Simple Interface

The interface of the freeware Sound Recorder is as simple as Window’s own Sound Recorder. You just might be mistaken into thinking that this sans frills audio recording software is too simple. There’s nothing wrong in its simplicity because it slashes the learning curve, very often the bugbear of media tools that we use. If you want to use it straight-up, just press the Start recording button and then press the Stop recording one when you are done. The recorded sound file is saved in a default location and is visible in the File list window.

The Very Interesting Features

Let us explore some really interesting features of this tool.

Mixer Window

The Mixer window allows you to choose the sound source for your recording. For instance, you can record a live performance by opting for Mic Volume. You can digitize your music collection by connecting an external cassette player to the laptop by choosing Line-In. You can use the advanced options to fine-tune your audio recordings by increasing the volume gain and correcting the balance.

Automatic Gain Filters

Go into the Options and set values for Automatic Gain of the volume. It basically sets the limits for the recording volume – i.e. it will be decreased or increased according to the high-low levels you set here.

The Voice Active system

Automatically start (and stop) your recordings when someone starts to speak. You can set levels which decide what gets to be considered as silence which decides the start and end points for your automatic recordings. With this, Sound Recorder sounds like the perfect eavesdropping device.

Schedule your recordings

This is a very handy feature which I can see helping me automatically record a broadcasted podcast I want…and nothing more. Set the precise time and date to turn streaming audio into a downloaded audio file which you can listen to later on.

One of the hallmarks of any good software is the Help manual. Sound Recorder has a well compiled one which takes you through the nitty-gritties of using it for different tasks.

Sound Recorder is a neat tool that can record from virtually any sound source that is audible through the computer speakers. How does that sound to you?

5 Best Bluetooth Speakers With Microphone

21-07-2021 · That said, you get a fairly good battery life of 8 hours. So if you want a business-grade Bluetooth speaker with a microphone and do not want to compromise on the quality, it’s the perfect pick ...

21-07-2021

Bluetooth speakers are one of the most versatile gadgets out there. These wireless speakers are portable and also bundles a slew of features. For instance, some of the Bluetooth speakers are waterproof, while others deliver loud audio to be used at parties. The best part is that some of these Bluetooth speakers have built-in microphones so that you can carry on your phone conversations without disconnecting your phone.

Until a few years ago, wireless Bluetooth speakers with microphones were a common thing. However, now things have changed, and a few of the makers have stopped adding this nifty feature. If you look around, the new launches like the JBL Flip 5 or the UE Wonderboom do not have a built-in microphone.

The Beosound A1 also has other tricks up its sleeves. For instance, it has a waterproof rating of IP67, has a decent battery life of around 18 hours, and supports Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive Bluetooth codec. However, the feature that separates it from its peers is its support for Amazon Alexa.

Thanks to the Alexa integration, you get an array of 3 mics. These ensure that the speaker can hear your commands even when it’s playings songs or podcasts. Plus, the three-microphone array transmits clear conversations through the mic. The mic’s noise isolation is on point and ensures that it carries minimal noise across. Some users have also used it for online Zoom meetings and calls and have had good experiences so far.

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 speaker offers decent battery life and USB-C charging. The folks at Tech Advisor found the battery dropping to about 90% after 6 hours of use after being connected to a Windows PC.

If you want a speaker that belts out quality audio and also lets you take up audio and video calls with ease, then this one is a worthy pick. However, note that the control buttons, situated around the lower edge, can be a little difficult to see and touch.

Like the one above, the Speak 710 is small, which makes it portable. In addition, the speaker has a small stand at the back that allows you to angle it towards yourself during calls and video meetings. At the same time, it delivers a clear voice, thanks to the built-in HD Voice feature. This Bluetooth speaker comes with a dedicated dongle should you want to connect it to your computer.

It also delivers immersive audio for music. However, though it features a premium look, it doesn’t look as trendy as its mainstream Bluetooth speakers, such as the Sony SRS-XB12 or the new JBL Go 3.

That said, you get a fairly good battery life of 8 hours. So if you want a business-grade Bluetooth speaker with a microphone and do not want to compromise on the quality, it’s the perfect pick.

One of the first things that will catch your eye is its new design. The SRS-XB23 has two passive radiators at the top and bottom. Plus, the IP67 waterproof rating means you needn’t worry about water and dust damage.

But, this speaker is for entertainment purposes only. You may take the occasional call or meeting with this. However, it’s not meant for serious office use. The lack of dedicated voice-enhancing tech means you won’t get the same clarity as the Jabra Speak 710. Nevertheless, it gets the work done, and that’s about it.

The battery life is decent. On a full charge (and listening at moderate volume) will get you around 12 hours of playback.

This is made possible by the built-in tech, which cancels out noises and hums of fans and printers. At the same time, it projects a clear and noise-free sound.

When it comes to connection, it has a versatile setup. Apart from the Bluetooth connection, it lets you connect via a USB-C dongle and AUX connection. Plus, you can also daisy chain other eMeet speakers if the need arises.

However, when listening to songs or watching videos, you might not get the same quality. This is partly due to the tech that highlights voice during calls and suppresses the songs’ bass and highs. So yeah, you might be looking at bass-less music. That said, if you want to have a break and want to listen to your favorite tracks, it’s possible.

Lastly, the buttons are at the top, which makes all the controls easily accessible.

As noted earlier, it delivers punchy audio. But as it is with certain speakers, the audio distorts a little when the volume is cranked up. But if you were to compare it with other similarly-sized speakers such as the JBL’s Go lineup, the Stormbox Micro delivers better audio.

The microphone is not the best in the market, especially when you compare it to the ones above. However, for the price, it gets the job done.

Though it has USB-C charging, you will have to compromise on the battery life. On a single charge, it lasts about 8 hours on moderate volume.

If you plan to use the mic functionality frequently, it would be best to get dedicated speakers for office use, such as the Jabra Speak or the eMeet Luna. They offer good noise cancellation and transmits a clear voice.

How to Configure Email Signature in Windows 8 Mail

29-08-2012 · Setting Up Windows Mail Email Signature. Step 1: Open the Mail app from Windows 8 Start Screen and access the Charm Bar using the Windows+C hotkey. You can hover your mouse pointer at the top ...

29-08-2012

While I was trying out all the modern Windows 8 apps after installing the Windows 8 RTM on my computer, I noticed that whenever I was sending an email from Windows 8 Mail app, a text “Sent from Windows Mail”  was always inserted at the end of all the outgoing emails as an email signature.

I personally didn’t want to tell the world that I was using Windows Mail to send emails as it didn’t make any sense. Changing it to something more professional or disabling it altogether seemed to be a better option. So let’s see how you can change or disable signatures for emails you send out using Windows 8 Mail.

Setting Up Windows Mail Email Signature

Step 1: Open the Mail app from Windows 8 Start Screen and access the Charm Bar using the Windows C hotkey. You can hover your mouse pointer at the top-right corner of your computer too to get it, but I always prefer hotkeys to save time.

Step 2: Click on the Settings button on Windows 8 Charm Bar to open Mail settings.

Step 3: In the Mail Settings, click on the Accounts option and select the account you would like to configure. In my case, as I am only using Outlook.com in Windows 8 Mail, I didn’t get any option, but if you have configured other accounts like Gmail and Yahoo, all of them will be listed there.

Step 4: In Outlook settings, scroll down to find Use an email signature. If you are planning to use a personal signature, delete the default Sent from Windows Mail  text and type in your personal signature you would like to use. If you are looking forward to use hyperlinks, you will have to paste the HTML code in the text box.

To disable signature for the account, toggle the option from Yes to No.

The settings will be saved instantly and you can simply exit the account configuration option as there is no save or apply button here. From next time, when you compose a mail using Windows 8 Mail, your personal signature will be automatically inserted at the end of your email.

Conclusion

Email signatures are a sign of professionalism and it’s a good habit to include it in your outgoing emails. If you are a Gmail user, don’t forget to have a look on how to create cool email signatures using Wise Stamp. Unlike in Windows Mail, there you can create different signatures for business and personal profiles and include social media widgets to enhance interaction.

8 Best Phone Tripods With a Ring Light

01-07-2021 · This tripod measures 6.5-feet when extended, thereby making it apt for full shots. This ring light measures 18-inch, which makes it perfect for large settings. It bundles a swivel …

01-07-2021

Lighting is the key to creating quality videos and photos. If you are looking to create short but quality videos, investing in lights is the first step forward. If you are creating videos on your phone, a handy tripod with a ring light and a phone holder is what you may invest in. This two-in-one mechanism not only holds your phone but also provides adequate lighting for your shoots.

So, if you create a ton of YouTube Story, Instagram Reels, or TikTok videos, these versatile tripods may be just what you are looking for. You get a well-lit environment and the soft LED lights ensure that you do not have any unnecessary glare.

Besides that, most lights are flexible, and let you switch between different color temperatures. Read on to see our recommendations for the best phone tripod with a ring light. But before that,

It’s a versatile tripod and can be mounted on tabletops or directly on the floor (14.5-52.5-inches). The rotating head and the shutter remote are the cherries on top.

The ring light doesn’t have the phone holder in the middle. You can fix it on the tripod leg. On the upside, you can rotate the phone holder to portrait and landscape mode. It’s a universal holder and should fit most phones (minus cases) well. As for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, some users have had issues in fitting it.

It’s quite popular on Amazon, and people have praised the light’s brightness and the affordable price tag. But, at the same time, some have complained of missing items onside the shipped box.

It’s easy to assemble, and several users have pointed this in their reviews. Plus, the light is bright and provides adequate lighting for most scenarios.

The phone holder can hold most phones. Here too, the usual rules apply: if your phone has an armored case, you’d have to remove it.

It’s an affordable tripod, though it doesn’t score that well on the durability scale.

Furthermore, the stops on the tripod make it easy to fix the height. Aside from that, you get the usuals like three light modes and 10 brightness settings for each level.

Since the light works via the remote, you might experience issues switching it off if you experience wireless interference.

It shares quite a few tech specs with its counterparts above. The height is customizable (15.7 inches to 50 inches), and you also get to play with tons of lighting options. The remote is a good add-on and lets you click pictures from a distance of up to 30 feet.

As we mentioned above, it’s one of the sturdy products out there, and several users have praised its build and solid construction. It’s popular on Amazon primarily for its flexibility and bright light.

It’s a tall tripod and can extend up to around 66-inches. Lastly, it’s well made and sturdy, and the head can tilt as well as swivel.

The KobraTech tripod is versatile, and it bundles an additional computer clip and a mini tripod.

The build is decent for the price. It’s sturdy, and the holder can hold phones well without dropping. On the downside, the holder is not big enough for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

This tripod may not be the best option for you if you are tall since it can extend only to 50-inches. The brightness is decent for small settings, but some users have complained the brightness be a tad on the lower scale. That said, it has the usual tech specs like adjustable brightness settings and color temperature.

Alternatively, you can check out the UBeesize Mini Led Camera Ringlight. This one is highly popular due to its price and performance.

Get UBeesize Mini Led Camera Ringlight

The tripod head is pretty flexible and lets you pan the head three ways. And the Bluetooth remote makes it easy to shoot pictures and videos from afar. Another advantage is its long USB power cord which gives you plenty of wriggle room to route it.

Long story short, if you are looking for a well-functional lightweight tripod with a ring light, then this is the one.

Alternatively, you may check out the Lamicall Selfie Ring Light.

Get Lamicall Selfie Ring Light

This ring light measures 18-inch, which makes it perfect for large settings. It bundles a swivel mount and a mobile mount.

This Lume Cube tripod proves to be a good pick if you are into shooting vlogs and long videos for YouTube. It’s built well and its sturdy design ensures that it holds up your camera and phone without toppling over. For the record, it can hold a weight of up to 10lbs.

Most of the phone tripods mentioned above let you shoot in both landscape and portrait mode. Besides that, you can always choose the brightness or the color as per your preference.

So, which of these will you pick?

How to Search Through a Website With or Without the Search Box

19-03-2012

When you start loving a website you probably start expecting more from it. You start looking for more material to read. And one of the best ways to do that is to use the website’s Search Box. However, at times the search box isn’t integrated clearly in the site’s design and becomes difficult to locate. Moreover, some sites may not be offering one.

Today, we will tell you how you could easily locate the search box on a site or render one when it does not exists. It will also interest you to know that you can perform your domain search without using such a box.

Cool Tip: You might want to get regular site updates through RSS Feeds and customized social network profiles too.

Using SlashSearch in Chrome

If you are a Chrome user things will be pretty simple with the installation of SlashSearch as an extension. With this done you just need to hit the forward slash (/) and the cursor focus will be placed on the website search box.

If it doesn’t have one, the extension will render its own search box and direct all searches to domain specific Google search.

You can also change the default hotkey by opening Options for the extension. Click on the / button and type in a new desired key value.

The extension also extends Chrome’s address bar search feature. You may use the back slash (\) to perform a domain specific search on Google. The results will be equivalent to Google search of site: .

When you are on the website, key in a \ on the address bar and press Tab to enter the search mode.

The look and feel of your address bar will change slightly and any query will show Google results from the current webpage.

An Alternate Trick

If you do not want to take the trouble of integrating the extension or if you aren’t a Chrome user you can still do the search on a website. All you need to do is append your URL with ?s=keyword. For multiple word query replace the space with sign.

Search Site Bookmarklet

Search Site is a bookmarklet that asks you to enter a search query by throwing a new pop up. The keyed in query gives results from domain specific Google search. To use the bookmarklet drag the link and drop it to your bookmark bar. Next time click on it to search any website.

Conclusion

With these methods you may now easily search through your favorite websites. Know of more such tricks? Share with us on the comments.

Here is How to Search a Website without Search Function

20-04-2017 · Open a search engine of your choice and type in whatever you were looking for, followed by ‘site:’ and the domain name of the website …

20-04-2017

Searching on the internet has been made easy, thank to various search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and DuckDuckGo — which recorded an increased use in the past three years since privacy concerns have grown manifolds post Snowden’s expose of government surveillance.

But what happens when you wish to search for something on a particular website, the only problem being, there is no search form on the website or it’s non-functional.

If you’re sure whatever you’re looking for is on the loaded page, you may as well use ‘Find in the page’ (Ctrl F) function, but that’s not feasible for searching the entire website for your specific query.

No need to panic as the aforementioned search engines are going to come to your rescue and help you search any website using a few keywords.

How Does This Work?

Open a search engine of your choice and type in whatever you were looking for, followed by ‘site:’ and the domain name of the website you’re searching.

For example, if you wish to search for Android articles on GuidingTech, you’ll need to search for: ‘android site:guidingtech.com’.

The same methodology will work on Google, Bing, DuckDuckGO and others — all the same way — they just might return slightly different results, especially in broader searches like the one depicted in these images, depending on their algorithm setting.

This makes searching for anything on the web easier — all you need to know are the keywords and the domain name which might be able to provide relevant information on the topic.

This not only helps you search a website when it lacks search functionality of its own, but also helps you narrow down your search and filtering out results from any unwanted website.

This is a trick to make you a better internet user — rather a power user — and help making your internet experience faster and more productive.
